![]() After Christmas lunch in Nelson on the North Island, we headed for Wellington, to get the overnight ferry to Picton on the South Island. This ship, the Edwin Fox, is in Picton. |

![]() We didn't get to see much of the town of Greymouth - this was the only day of bad weather we had during the whole trip, and it was very impressive weather indeed. |
![]() Jannett at the mouth of the Franz Joseph Glacier. We walked through some bitterly cold streams to get to the glacier front, but it was well worth. On the way back, we tagged on the back of a friendly tour group - and found that actually it was possible to avoid all the streams very easily. |
