Eclipse - 1999

Long before the media hype really got going, we bought train tickets for a day-trip to Cornwall on August 11, to see the Eclipse. We left Paddington at 3:10 am, and travelled in an ancient (and extremely comfortable, if rather slow) train. One of the surprise features of the trip was the large number of train-spotters at stations we passed through. There were so many extra trains heading for Cornwall that day, that it must have been train-spotter heaven. We arrived at Penzance at around 9:40, and made our way East to find a rock to sit on. It was crowded, but not nearly as much as we had expected.
